Notes Straight from the Trainer! Baseball In-Season Movements ⚾️
Notes straight from the trainer 📣⚡️ @kane_lombardo
Here’s a look at some baseball in-season training we have been doing. ⚾️
In-season, we are trying to maintain the strength that was gained in the off-season with minimal soreness. We want to be as fresh as possible while maintaining a certain level of strength.
To do this, we are focusing on exercises that have a high degree of concentric effort and minimal eccentric stress. The eccentric stress (think of the muscles being under a high amount of tension) tends to leave individuals sorer than concentric efforts.
With the Goblet Reverse Lunge, we are keeping the reps relatively low but keeping the effort high. This way the reps will remain technically sound throughout the whole set while still allowing for a high level of output.
With the Hand Switch Yoga Push-up, we are working on going through scapular retraction and protraction on the push-up portion and driving scapular upward rotation as the hips travel up and away. The hand switch between each push-up is another way of increasing overall difficulty throughout the set and really challenges the area in between the shoulder blades.
As a superset, these two exercises work well together as they won’t compete against each other in terms of demand.
